From home tours to ghost tours, there's something for everyone!
Bolivar Home Tour
Held annually each spring, this tour gives visitors a glimpse into the lives of Bolivar's earliest residents and the homes they built and occupied. The tour typically includes:
- The Pillars, circa 1828
- APTA House Museum
- The Columns, circa 1860
- Magnolia Manor, circa 1849 (now a bed and breakfast inn)
- The Little Courthouse Museum, circa 1824
- The 1853 Presbyterian Church
- Union Cemetery established in 1857
- United Sons and Daughters Lodge built in 1928 (an African American benevolent organization formed in 1873)
Local volunteers of the Association for the Preservation of Tennessee Antiquities (APTA) don period costumes to add authenticity to the event. Information is available through the APTA website, hardemancountyapta.org.
Magnolia Manor Ghost Tours
There's no scare-city of entertainment in "Booliver" when nervous participants in the Ghost tour hear about evidence of phantoms uncovered by paranormal investigators associated with the Memphis Mid-South Ghost Hunters. During a recent tour, conveniently scheduled during Halloween, one participant commented, "I seriously had the time of my life! After about 7 months of investigating with my own team, I had never actually seen an apparition in person. But my luck changed at Magnolia Manor when I saw an apparition walk in front of a doorway. I would definitely recommend this ghost hunt to anyone who is even relatively interested in the paranormal!"
