Originally from Atlanta, Georgia, Amanda Sparks received her B.A. from Agnes Scott College and her M.F.A. from Hunter College, CUNY. After receiving her M.F.A she left New York and returned to the South, settling first in Jackson, MS (her husband's home state) and finally in Memphis, where she now lives and works. She continues to merge traditional printmaking / book arts techniques with photo and computer based processes. Her work has been exhibited at museums and galleries nationwide.

In her most recent work, Ms. Sparks juxtaposes found imagery from the Internet with old Reader's Digest collections and vintage postcards purchased from area garage sales. These digital composites are then printed on a large-format inkjet printer, intricately cut out by hand and layered inside insect display cases. Much like Walker Percy's Love in the Ruins, these pieces express a simultaneous awe of and aversion to the self-destructive, myopic nature of modern culture.
