Collection of Irma and George Stratton
Todd completed his BFA at Memphis College of Art before earning an MFA at Cornell University. He apprenticed with the minimalist sculptor Donald Judd, and appreciates the simple, clean lines materials can lend to the composition of his works. Another influence is Constantin Brancusi, whose abstract pieces retained an underlying figurative form. Todd has featured in exhibitions locally and nationally since the 1970's, with works included in private and corporate collections. He has even produced public art projects in the form of tree-like shade pavilions for parks and golf courses. In Raptor, Todd articulates the power and aura of the bird of prey in a timeless and elegant way.
