Artist Carl Moore

From the collection of Steve and Cindy Gilmore

"Prey and Predator acts as a metaphor for situations that take place in everyday life. This scenario is played out in many ways where there is the symbolic loser-winner, richer-poorer, owner-worker, seller-consumer, and of course someone preying on another's misfortune." Influenced in his visual style by the works of Jacob Lawrence and Stuart Davis, Carl Moore paints the emotional state of everyday situations existing in sometime surreal environments. He earned his BFA and MFA from the Memphis College of Art, where he serves as President of the Alumni Association, and has featured in numerous exhibitions in the area since that time.
