Artist Christopher Miner

Christopher Miner was born and raised in Jackson, Mississippi. He received his MFA at Yale University School of Art after completing his BA at the University of Tennessee. His work has been exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art, PS1 Contemporary Art Center, and New Museum in New York, and at Tate Britain in London, among other institutions. Recent exhibitions include Every Other Girl in the World at Jones Hall Gallery, University of Memphis, and Easter for the Birds at Mitchell-Innes & Nash, New York. He currently lives in Memphis where he guides the arts programing for Crosstown Arts, a non-profit organization committed to enlivening the Crosstown area of the city with arts activities. His video pieces are explorations of identity, part anthropological survey, part personal confession. In the words of New York Times art critic Roberta Smith, "He combines the mood of early 1990's abject art with identity consciousness and aims it at himself and, by implication, white, straight, possibly Southern males in general."
